It’s a new world. A child is born into a jungle of screens, each vying for their attention. Screens have become the dominant medium for storytelling. Yet the heart of it is nothing new. We have always told stories: on cave walls, around campfires, in ancient stone amphitheatres, and now, on screens.
We are building Beautiful Sandals to create a little corner of our own.
Growing up, we had so many lovely stories to carry us through our childhood. In an era of fewer screens, books filled the rainy days when we had to stay indoors. Board games brought excitement, laughter, and, yes, the occasional argument. These were simple things, but they gave us memories we still treasure.
We want to preserve something of that world while planting a few seeds of our own—seeds that will bear good fruit for a new generation.
Not all stories are created equal. It is easy for children to find themselves absorbed in stories that do little to edify, uplift, or inspire. Some plant ideas and values that we, as parents, do not wish to nurture. Many parents now feel the need to read ahead, watch first, or search for reviews before sharing a book, film, or game with their children. Choosing a story has become an exercise in careful scrutiny.
Beautiful Sandals is bringing together a family of storytellers inspired by Christ, united by a desire to plant good seeds through stories children will love and parents can trust. Stories filled with wonder, warmth, courage, and hope. Stories that make room for laughter and adventure while nourishing the hearts of those who encounter them.

Are these the finished illustrations?
The gallery shares original scanned works in progress. Pencil notes, compositions, colours and text may change. The cover and open-book images are possible renditions of the finished book.
